Women Empowering Women Network Launches BAME Women in Business Engage & Excel Project with National Lottery Community Fund Support
Women Empowering Women Network (WEWN) CIC is proud to announce the launch of its groundbreaking initiative, the BAME Women in Business Engage & Excel Project, supported by the National Lottery Community Fund.
Starting in September 2025, this 12‑month programme will empower 50 migrant women across Tyne & Wear to transform their cultural talents into thriving micro‑enterprises. From culinary arts to traditional crafts, participants will receive tailored training, mentorship, and business support designed to build confidence, skills, and economic independence.
At the heart of the project are the Newcastle Cultural Showcase Markets, hosted at accessible venues such as the NUCASTLE Foundation Community Centre. These vibrant, open‑to‑all events will provide women with direct sales opportunities, connecting them with wider communities and celebrating the cultural richness they bring to the region.
“This project is about ensuring no woman is left behind. By creating culturally affirming pathways to business success, we’re tackling barriers to enterprise and helping women navigate the cost‑of‑living crisis with confidence and creativity,” said Shamiso Dirahu, Director of WEWN.

The project will be delivered from WEWN’s new operational base at the Gateshead International Business Centre, Office 1 Mulgrave Terrace, NE8 1AN, working closely with partners such as the Angelou Centre and Connected Voice to reach those most in need. Costs covered by the grant include a project coordinator, venue hire, tailored workbooks and stationery, specialist cultural speakers, and marketing to ensure maximum community
engagement.
Conclusion
Through the BAME Women in Business Engage & Excel Project, WEWN is not only empowering women locally but also contributing to global progress. By fostering entrepreneurship, cultural inclusion, and economic independence, the initiative directly advances the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — including No Poverty (SDG 1), Gender Equality (SDG 5), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10), and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11).
This alignment underscores WEWN’s commitment to building resilient communities in Tyne & Wear while contributing to a fairer, more sustainable world.

This press release highlights how attention to detail and clarity make all the difference in communication whether it’s news, products, or personal projects. It reminded me how similar challenges arise when an author is preparing a book for readers. Beyond the writing itself, presentation plays a huge role in how a story is perceived and discovered. That’s why many writers put thought into visual elements like custom book cover design services for self-published authors to ensure their work feels polished, engaging, and inviting long before anyone reads a single word.
I think press releases are a great way to share timely news, but they work best when they’re clear and concise. A well-written release can make information easy to digest and grab attention without overwhelming the reader. When it comes to publishing, working with experienced publishers in Houston Texas can really help ensure your press release reaches the right audience. They often have insights on distribution channels and formatting that make your announcement more effective.
I’ve been exploring different techniques for writing stories, but I’m curious how other writers maintain reader interest from start to finish. How important are elements like character development, plot twists, and pacing in keeping a story compelling? Are there strategies that consistently work across genres, or does it depend entirely on the audience? For those experienced in storytelling, what methods have you found most effective to capture attention and make readers eager to turn every page?
